Conduct of Science 

The Division of Medical Sciences requires all G2 students to participate in Conduct of Science during their second fall semester.  All G5 students are required to participate in  the Conduct of Science Refresher course (Med.Sci. 302qc).

Enrolling in a Section:

This year the course will run during the months of October through December.  There will be three mandatory didactic sessions where everyone involved in the course will meet to listen to guest speakers and participate in discussions afterwards.  The dates for these sessions are as follows:

NOTE: If you are unable to attend one of the sessions you must watch the video (will be posted above) and submit a one page summary to your section faculty leader.

In addition, the discussion groups will meet 5 times for 1 1/2 hours per class for a total of 7 1/2 hours. 

 

MEDSCI 302qc Requirements: MEDSCI 302qc is the refresher course for graduate students in their G5 year, since these students already took the original course, MEDSCI 300qc in their G1 year, this course has different time requirements however they are required to complete the same academic requirements as described below in the “Course Requirements” section

  • G5 students are only required to attend 2 out of the 3 didactic sessions; however they are welcome to attend all three sessions
  • The MEDSCI 302qc refresher discussion groups will only meet 4 times for 1 ½ hours per class for a total of 6 hours. Students will sign up for the class, based on their individual schedules, on https://nanosandothercourses.hms.harvard.edu/node/173.

 

You will enroll in a section by going to the Sections tab.  Specific course materials can be found under the Discussion Manual and Resources tab.

You will sign up for one section only.  Please be sure all the meeting dates work with your schedule.  Sign ups will be on a first come first served basis.

 In addition to enrolling in a section, you must add the following quarter course to your Fall 2015 study card.  The course listing is:

If you have not already signed up for the course on your study card you must fill out an add/drop form.

Course Requirements:

  • You are required to be an active participant.  These are small sections and all students need to be involved for healthy discussions.
  • You are required to submit a 1-2 page report at the end of your section.
  • You are required to attend all sessions.  If you must miss one meeting you are required to inform your faculty and Tatevik Holmgren ahead of time. 
  • Course materials (2 booklets) will be available in the TMEC Building Room 435.  We will email you when they are available.
